The dormitory offers Internet via WiFi and Ethernet/Cable
The network is maintained by the network team at the dorm.
Registration
If you are new at the dorm and want to use the provided internet access, you can scan the QR code in your room to set up a new account.
The QR code is typically located withtin the fuse box of your room.
After scanning the QR code you will be able to create a new Account .
Then you will receive your credentials to log into the Network. Please safe these as they are required whenever you want to connect a new device to the WiFi.
It may be possible that the WiFi access to your room is currently deactivated.
If you notice do not receive a working connection after connecting to the network, please contact the network team and notifiy them that you just moved in. They will then activate the internet access for you room.
Pricing
The Network within the dormitory is maintained by voluntery students and therefore we are able to offer Internet very cheaply for 20€ per Semester.
Once per Semester you will receive an invoice in your post box as well as a notification through the Whatsapp Group Chat of the Dormitory with a payment date.
Please pay the invoice within the payment period, either via cash or Paypal.
If you fail to pay the invoice within the paymend period your Internet Accessed will be deactivated and can only be reactivated after confirming payment to the network team which may leave you without Internet for a few days.
WiFi and Ethernet
You can use both the plug in your wall as well as the WiFi to access to the internet.
Be aware however that the WiFi isn't always the most stable, even with the many access points installed. All kinds of devices such as laptops, smart phones, wireless computer keyboards and even microwaves cause interferences.
Therefore we recommend the WiFi for typical activities like browsing the web or streaming but if you need an absolutely reliable connection for activities such as video calls or online games we recommend to simply connect your device to the plug in the wall with an ethernet cable, which will offer and extremely fast and reliable connection.
